Keenly contested by two very evenly-matched teams, this Cup Final was a fantastic advert for youth football. Rovers started off really strongly, pressuring Crediton right from the whistle. The early possession almost paid off after 10 minutes when Ben Logan's shot crashed against the bar. With half-time looming and the match still waiting for a goal, Rovers won a free-kick on the right. Billy Reed's cross was met by Aaron Pearse whose thumping header found the back of the net. The half time whistle blew with Rovers deservedly going in a goal up. Crediton came back into the match during the second half, forcing Rovers to defend for all they were worth and rely on the counter attack. There were chances at both ends but neither team managed to get the better of their opponent's stalwart defence. Crediton piled on the pressure in the final minutes but with Toby Bouganeau in magnificent form, Rovers were determined not to relinquish their lead. The final whistle blew and Rovers finished the winners by a narrow, but thoroughly well-deserved margin. Well played everyone and congratulations Rovers. |

Honiton Rovers completed a remarkable League season in which they finished undefeated with this victory over Honiton Wanderers. Wanderers had the better of the early play, putting the Rovers defence under constant pressure. It was against the run of play when George Hathaway broke down the right and crossed. Harry Wright tucked the ball neatly into the corner of the net. Early in the second half Ben Logan doubled the Rovers lead and now it was Rovers asking all the questions. Billy Penwarden made it 3-0 with a lovely half-volley from outside the box. Billy Reed increased the lead to 4 with a brilliant shot from 20 yards. Man of the Match Aaron Pearse made it 5 with a trademark run from defence. His shot took a wicked deflection and ended up in the net. Aaron informed me it was definitely his goal and after his breathtaking goal-stopping tackle late in the second half, I'm not going to argue with him. Well done lads! A brilliant season and an amazing achievement. |

Rovers registered their biggest win this year and in the process pushed their season's goal tally past the 100 mark. Man of the match George Hathaway scored five. There were hat-tricks from both Billy Reed and Kieran Murphy and two a piece for Ben Logan and Cody Northcott. Billy Penwarden's goal completed the scoring. The pick of the goals for me was George Hathaway's superb header. Take your pick from any of Billy Reed's three fine shots for a close second. This result has been given officially as 1-15, but I counted 16 and the more I think about it I'm sure I missed one. |

Rovers were back to full strength and winning ways with this emphatic victory over Feniton. Man of the Match Billy Penwarden was in devastating form in front of goal, netting five in total. Kieran Murphy chipped in with a second-half hat-trick. There were goals also from Billy Reed, Harry Wright and maybe the pick of the bunch was Daryl Young's well placed shot from the edge of the box. The official result is 11-0, but I have it on good authority (hi Cody!) that Cody Northcott also found the back of the net. |

Rovers dominated from the start but found it difficult to break down a well organised Exmouth Kestrels defence. Billy Reed's cross into the box was fired home by Kieran Murphy midway through the first half but the celebrations were cut short when a great shot from the edge of the box beat stand-in keeper Cody Northcott who stood no chance. They went to the half-time break all square at 1-1. In the second half, almost all the action was in the Exmouth half as Rovers relentlessly searched for an elusive winner. Unfortunately it was lot of effort and no reward as Rovers were constantly denied by good saves or watching shots going tantalisingly just wide. The final score of 1-1 didn't really reflect the run of play. |

Football pundits often say that a team with title ambitions sometimes need to "grind out wins" when not at their best, a description that best describes this Rovers performance. Rovers took the lead early through Billy Reed, whose lovely finish completed a neat exchange of passes between himself, Harry Wright and George Hathaway. This was the highlight of a first half in which Rovers found it difficult to get their passing game going. Sidmouth equalised just before half time with a fine shot which keeper Daryl Young was unlucky not to get to. The second half saw Billy Penwarden's shot parried to Kieran Murphy who slotted home from close range. Some determined work by Kieran made it 1-3 when he won the ball from a Sidmouth defender. His ball into the box resulted in an unfortunate defender turning the ball into his own net. Harry Wright made it 1-4 when his in-swinging corner found the back of the net. Rovers were made to battle hard for this victory, none more so than the tough tackling defenders Aaron Pearse, Cody Northcott, Ben Logan and Toby Bouganeau. |

In their first league game for 6 weeks, Rovers' great home form continued. They got off to a fairly slow start but settled down quickly after the 10th minute when Billy Reed crashed home from close range. It was soon 2-0. Harry Wright's long range shot was parried by the Seaton keeper straight into the path of Billy Reed, who took the opportunity and fired home. Some quick thinking from George Hathaway set up second half substitute, Billy Penwarden, who made it 3-0 with a lovely strike into the roof of the net and 3 became 4 when Harry Wright's shot from distance squeezed passed the keeper. Another second half substitute, Kieran Murphy, added the 5th and just before the final whistle Daryl Young made it 6-0. It was a good all round team performance by Rovers, whose clean sheet was made possible with some great defending by Cody Northcott, Aaron Pearse and Ben Logan. |

Rovers started the game brightly and were quick to stamp their authority with some early dominant football. This was rewarded midway through the first half when they took the lead through an Aaron Pearse goal. Aaron was extremely unlucky not to make it 2-0 a little later when his thundering shot struck the Lyme Regis bar. Rovers continued to dominate, creating several chances to increase their lead. Despite this, the half time whistle blew with Rovers a goal to the good. The second half was much the same, until a speculative lob from outside the box caused panic in front of the Rovers goal and resulted in a Lyme Regis equaliser. Rovers went in search of a winner and came close on numerous occasions, only to be thwarted by the woodwork and the magnificent performance of the Lyme Regis keeper. The game went into extra time and was played out in much the same fashion, with that winning goal still eluding Rovers. Then, with penalties looking a certainty, George Hathaway popped up inside the box and scored the goal that the Rovers pressure deserved. |

A keenly fought top of the table clash saw Rovers twice come from behind to earn a well deserved point. The game was played at a fast pace with action and chances at both ends, but it was Crediton who took the lead with a well taken goal midway through the first half. Rovers were threatening down the left with some neat passes and moves between Harry Wright and Billy Reed. An interchange of passes between these two lead to Harry Wright scoring a Rovers equaliser just before half time. Both teams had opportunities to score, but it was Crediton took the lead again in the second half when they made a break down the right side. The shot from just inside the box left the keeper no chance and flew into the top corner. Rovers were not finished though and with time running out Kieran Murphy came on. He shot low to the keepers left and it was into the net to earn a well deserved point for Rovers. |

Rovers got off to a slow start in the game, giving the early advantage to the Kestrels. Chances were few and far between in the early stages, with both teams failing to find any fluidity. The whistle blew for half time with the game goalless. Then, early in the second half, Harry Wright gave Rovers the lead with a well taken goal. Billy Reed was running the Kestrels defence ragged all down the left, and Rovers found some urgency to their game. Suddenly, it was a different Rovers on the pitch. Rovers created a couple of half chances before Harry Wright scored his second goal of the game, and not long after that Cody Northcott added a third. It was a fine second half performance by Rovers who even, after a poor start, were the deserving winners. |

This was a game neither team could afford to lose if they were to maintain their title ambitions. Both sides started off understandably nervous. Rovers took the lead after a nice move down the right saw Billy Reed score just before half time. Exmouth Eagles equalised early in the second half, direct from a free kick, a blow for Rovers as their goal had not been seriously threatened until then. Rovers kept up constant pressure on the Eagles goal, but a winner eluded them and they dropped their first points of the season. |

Honiton T Rovers played Sidmouth Vikings. It
was a really close game with end to end football with both teams creating
some good chances.
However Harry Wright broke the deadlock with a fantastic free kick to make it 1-0 at half time. Some great passing in the second half set Harry Wright up to score his second goal. Sidmouth had some good breaks but Toby Bouganeau struck a great goal just before the end it making it a 3-0 win to Honiton. |

Honiton T Rovers played Colyton in the Quarter finals of the East Devon Cup. Colyton went ahead in the first few minutes. it was a very close match in the first half and it took Honiton another 10 minutes before Aaron Pearse equalised. Just before half time Billy Reed hit the ball in the back of the net to make it 2-1 to Honiton, George Hathaway came on in the second half and scored another goal for Honiton. Ben Logan put a free kick in the back of the net then with Billy Penwarden heading in a goal Honiton Rovers won 5-1. They will go onto to play Sidmouth or Lyme Regis in the Semi Finals. |
