Sat 16th Sept 2006..... friendlies v Culm Utd |
| Honiton Rovers | 2 | Culm Utd | 1 |
A great work out in preparation for the new season and a well deserved win for Rovers, who controlled the game for long periods and were unlucky not to have won by a bigger score. Billy Penwarden scored early in the second half, Culm equalised but George Hathaway restored Rovers lead minutes later. Apart from the Culm Utd goal for which he stood no chance Daryl Young coped very well with everything that the visitors asked of him. Rovers came close to scoring on several occasions, Scott Redman hitting the woodwork twice, with Ben Logan, and Kieran Murphy twice forcing great saves from the Culm keeper. |

The second game was a closer fought contest with both sides coming close on several occasions, Kieran Murphys header was well saved by the Culm Utd keeper. There were chances at both ends and Rovers defended well, the breakthrough came just before the final whistle, when Aaron Pearse broke from his own half and slotted passed the keeper, even though to me it looked like it may even of been an own goal, we'll give it to Aaron. A good solid performance and an excellent work out for the boys, no official Man of the Match awards were given, so these are only my personal opinions for the website. |

Sun 17th Sept 2006..... friendly v Exmouth Juniors |
| Honiton Rovers | 0 | Exmouth Juniors | 1 |
Another close pre-season friendly saw Rovers narrowly beaten by a very well organised Exmouth Juniors. It was just the kind of match Rovers needed ahead of next weeks League opener, and a great chance for all the lads to get a run out. It was a very close game which I thought Rovers just edged, in view of possession and chances created, but were beaten by a well taken Exmouth goal. Rovers had no luck in front of goal with the woodwork denying them on two occasions, but all in all it was a good all round team performance. |

Sat 23rd Sept 2006.....League v Exwick Youth |
| Exwick Youth | 1 | Honiton Rovers | 2 |
Rovers got their league season off to a winning start with a solid performance against Exwick Youth. The game started off pretty evenly with both sides creating chances, but Rovers slowly started to boss the game, and when Ben Logan rifled home from close range it seemed to settle any nerves that Rovers may have had. Billy Reed increased Rovers lead just before half time, capping off a fine first half for Rovers. Cody Northcott put in a fine performance on the left in the second half, but was bettered by the inform Daryl Young whose super save at the beginning of the second half was almost bettered by his penalty save late on, when the Rovers defence were slowest to react and Exwick scored from the loose ball. A good start to the season and an entirely deserved win for Rovers |

Sat 23rd Sept 2006.....League v Stoke Hill |
| Stoke Hill | 1 | Honiton Rovers | 6 |

What an excellent all round performance this was from Honiton Rovers, who knew they would have to be at their best if they were going to get anything from this game. Rovers dominated from the start, and the early pressure soon paid off when Billy Reed scored Rovers first after some good work from Harry Wright and George Hathaway. Bill made it 2-0 when he was put through by Aaron Pearse, and could have had a hat-trick but generously passed the ball to Scott Redman, to score his first Rovers goal. Toby Bouganeau and Aaron Pearse were superb in defence, and managed to deal with any Stoke Hill counter attack. So the half time whistle blew with Rovers 0-3 to the good. Four changes were made for the start of the second half. Stoke Hill scored early in the second half but sub Billy Penwarden soon restored Rovers three goal cushion. Billy P thundered home a fifth for Rovers after some neat work by Kieran Murphy. Just before the final whistle George Hathaway made it six when he half volleyed into the net from Billy Reed's corner. It would be near on impossible to pick out any one individual performance, because every member of the squad contributed to what can only be described as an absolutely brilliant team effort. |

Sat 30th Sept 2006.....League v Topsham Town |
| Topsham Town | 2 | Honiton Rovers | 3 |
Honiton started well with early pressure from Harry Wright but despite creating plenty of chances Honiton could not convert them. Toby Bouganeau finally opened the scoring just before half time. In the second half Honiton added two further goals from Billy Penwarden and Billy Reed to make the score 3-0. Towards the end of the game Honiton were given a shock when Topsham piled on the pressure and came back with s fine goal. Minutes later Topsham were awarded a penalty. The final score was 3-2 in a well fought game . |

Sat 30th Sept 2006.....League v AFC St Martins |
| AFC St Martins | 1 | Honiton Rovers | 3 |
A highly competitive game with both teams contributing to a high quality match. Midfield dynamo Georgie Hathaway opened the scoring with a well taken free kick. Toby Bouganeau was in fine form in defence making some great saving tackles. St Martins finished the half the stronger side equalising just before half time with a powerful shot from just outside the area. The second half opened at a furious pace with both sides playing hard attacking football with chances at both ends. Midway through the 2nd half, a good move involving Billy Penwarden and Billy Reed lead to man of the match Georgie Hathaway converting a well worked goal. Billy Reed then went onto score another fine goal with minutes to go in what was an excellent free flowing game. |

Sat 21st Oct 2006.....League v Heavitree Harriers |
| Honiton Rovers | 1 | Heavitree Harriers | 0 |
Honiton Rovers set the pace of the game early on when Harry Wright's low drive hit the side netting. Then the Heavitree keeper made a fine save from Billy Penwarden. Aaron Pearse made a good run down the right and his cross was met by Billy P, whose resulting header hit the bar just before half time. The second half started in much the same way, with Rovers piling on the pressure and a Ben Logan effort almost breaking the deadlock. The Heavitree goal was under constant threat and their keeper made some fine saves to keep out efforts from Daniel Greenland, Aaron Pearse and Harry Wright. Rovers hit the woodwork again when Harry Wright's shot crashed off the upright, and it seemed as though it was just not going to be Rovers day. That was until Man of the Match, Cody Northcott's low left footed power drive hit the back of the net late on. Rovers still had to defend well, especially when Heavitree Harriers almost equalised right at the death, but the final whistle blew with Rovers running out deserved 1-0 winners in what was a very good match. |

Sat 21st Oct 2006.....League v Heavitree Harriers |
| Honiton Rovers | 8 | Heavitree Falcons | 0 |

Rovers went on the attack straight from the whistle when Kieran Murphy's shot was saved on the line. Kieran made it 1-0 soon after with a close range effort after some fine work from Harry Wright. It was now all Rovers, Kieran Murphy's shot hit the post then a fine volley from Aaron Pearse hit the back of the net to make it 2-0. Aaron added a third after some good work from Connor Long and Daniel Greenland. Daryl Young pulled off a marvellous save from a powerful volley, from which Rovers broke down the left in a great move which led to Kieran Murphy making it 4-0. It was soon 5 when Ben Logan was first to react when the ball came back off the Falcons bar. Billy Penwarden's fantastic bicycle kick certainly deserved to make it six, but that pleasure came from a thunderous Harry Wright 20 yard effort. Rovers continued their relentless assault on the Falcons goal when Kieran Murphy completed his hat-trick with a fine diagonal shot. Harry Wright made it eight with a nice half volley from close range. This was a great attacking performance from Rovers and a special mention should to added to the fine performances of both Daniel Greenland and Connor Long on their debuts. |

Sat 04 Nov 2006.....League v Tiverton Town |
| Honiton Rovers | 1 | Tiverton Town | 1 |
Rovers were made to work hard against an excellent Tiverton Town side who took the game to Rovers from the off. Midway through the first half Billy Reed's shot was parried by the Tiverton keeper into the path of Harry Wright who coolly finished to give Rovers the lead against the run of play. However, Tiverton's pressure finally paid off just before half time with a well finished goal. Rovers defended stoutly in the second half, Kieran Murphy cleared off the line and Daryl Young pulled off a couple of fine saves, whilst Aaron Pearse and Toby Bouganeau battled for all they were worth. Rovers managed to create a couple of chances of their own, but were thwarted by the very well organised Tiverton defence. The final whistle blew with the honours shared, in what was an unnaturally subdued Rovers performance. |

Sat 04 Nov 2006.....League v Moors Youth |
| Honiton Rovers | 1 | Moors Youth | 0 |
Rovers found it difficult to get into their stride, with neither side creating any clear cut chances in the first half. Scott Redman harried the Moors defence from the right flank but Honiton's deadliness in front of goal was not up to its normal standard. In the second half, Cody Northcott and Ben Logan worked well down the left but the finishing touch was still missing, and Rovers' frustration was beginning to show. The deadlock was finally broken in the second half when Billy Penwarden was bought down in the box, and Toby Bouganeau smashed in the resulting penalty. This was not the usual fluent football normally expected from Rovers, perhaps they missed the inspiration that the injured Georgie Hathaway normally brings. |

Sat 18 Nov 2006.....League v Ottery St Mary |
| Ottery St Mary | 2 | Honiton Rovers | 3 |
Rovers had a couple of chances early on in this game and their pressure was rewarded when Harry Wright rifled home a Billy Reed pass. Ottery almost equalised from a shot which was destined for the top right corner, but Daryl Young had different ideas and magnificently tipped the ball over the bar. Billy Reed come very close to extending Rovers lead when his shot was cleared off the line, but Rovers were made to pay for their squandered chances just before half time when Ottery equalised. Rovers stepped up the work rate in the second half and got their second when Cody Northcott's glancing header found the back of the net from a well taken corner. Another corner from the left hand side saw Harry Wright make it 1-3 when he won the ball in the air and done very well to head down past the keeper and into the net. A mistake in the Rovers defence gifted Ottery a second just before the final whistle. It was a match in which Rovers looked comfortable without ever really stamping their authority on the game. |

Sat 18 Nov 2006.....League v Newton Town Knights |
| Newton Knights | 0 | Honiton Rovers | 6 |
Rovers started strongly and were quickly rewarded when Kieran Murphy found Billy Penwarden in space to coolly slot the ball into the net. It was the same two who combined for Rovers second, this time with Kieran Murphy smashing home. A great run from defence from Aaron Pearse was rewarded when he received a return pass from Billy P and slotted in Rovers third. Early in the second half Billy Penwarden made it 0-4, Aaron Pearse got his second and Rovers fifth. Scott Redman thought he had scored Rovers sixth when he chipped in from the edge of the box, but was denied by the ref who had blown up for a previous foul. Unlucky, Scott. Toby Bouganeau's long ball found Harry Wright who was more than happy to smash in Rovers sixth, whilst at the other end, Rovers stand-in keeper Ben Logan pulled off a fine save late on to help Rovers keep a clean sheet. A comfortable victory for a Rovers side still not quite firing on all cylinders. |

Sat 25 Nov 2006.....Cup 1st Rd v West Hill Hornets |

Rovers began brightly and looked threatening from the start, especially down the right with the return of the much missed Georgie Hathaway who linked well with Billy Reed and Harry Wright to create several chances early into the game. Billy Reed made it 1-0 midway through the half with a lovely strike from the edge of the box. Rovers created a few more chances but could not find the finish | |||
